One of the integral pillars of the Integrated Basin Livelihood Promotion Programme (IBDLP) is entrepreneurship promotion. In its effort to spread awareness about the IBDLP programme, the Block Development Unit (BDU) of East Khasi Hills inaugurated the Enterprise Facilitation Centre (EFC) at Mylliem Block on the 27th of August, 2013.

The EFC was inaugurated by Shri S. Goyal, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman, BDU in the presence of Shri R. Lyngdoh, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Shri B. Sohliya, OSD, MIE, Shri A. Swer OSD, MIG and the Headman of Mylliem.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, the Chairman stated that the EFC provides a mechanism for the entrepreneurs to build a partnership with the EFC in particular and the Programme in general. The EFC through the process of consultation and discussion will understand the aspirations of the existing and prospective entrepreneurs and provide motivation to those who are serious in setting up enterprises. The interns will provide all the relevant information and assistance to the entrepreneurs visiting the EFC and perform a need-assessment on a case-to-case basis. Thereafter, necessary interventions will be provided in the form of backward and forward linkages to all entrepreneurs so that their standard of living improves.
