Success stories- Kong Ribon Shabong

Kong Ribon Shabong a ginger cultivator found that the activity although beneficial, in recent years, the production of ginger has started to decline. She approached the EFC to seek assistance in this regard - to find solutions to this problem. When this was informed to the BRDC a team was sent to look into the matter. The team found that the problem was the poor quality of seeds used and diseases affecting the crops. They did a trial run on the use of bio-inoculants and also taught her to make bio-pesticides to help control the disease. This has not only helped increase production but has also reduced the incidents of diseases and pest attacks. Kong Ribon is now practicing these organic methods of production which has resulted in the increase of her yield, and she now hopes to double her plantation in the next season.
