Kong Ritalis Lyngkhoi a widow, who is 48 years old, lives in Umsumbah village with her seven children .Initially, she used to engage herself in agricultural activities. Her life began to change after 2014 when she started accessing to WEEFI Loan. She received Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand and started constructing poultry shed with 50 chicks to begin with. The chickens are growing very fast and then she bought again another 100 chicks, however 10 chicks died due to sickness.

When the chick attains 3kg, Smt. Ritalis sells the meat in her shop in Rambrai. Then she further purchased 200 chicks, unfortunately all the two hundred chickens die due to sickness.Then she informed the Rambrai Branch Manager about the death of her chickens, for which the Branch Manager came to eyewitness the incident by himself. In spite of the death, she still have a strong determination to expand her poultry farm, taking the risk she took another loan of Rs.90, 000/- (Ninety Thousand Only). With the loan, she again startedconstruction of two new sheds with 100 chicks. Thenafter two weeks again she ordered another 100 chicks and with another 150 chicks again after a week. The demand is very high in the market that although some of the chickens died, she can still meet the cost and gain profit. At the same time, she also repays her loan the sum of Rs. 200/- to Rs. 500/- per week. Smt. Ritalis is taking her chickens every day to Rambrai market and able to sell10 to 15 kgs of chickens per day. Furthermore, to improve her poultry farm Smt. Ritalis attended training on Poultry at Bethany society in 2016.

Smt. Ritalis also have a kitchen garden near her house where shesows different variety of vegetables, using the waste of chickens as manure. Her vegetablesare growing very well and along with her chickens she also sold her vegetables in the market. She also rear fishes in her pond with the help of her children.

Smt. Ritalis is facing challenges especially when the chicken died but she never give up, instead she took it as a lesson learnt from challenges faced and this has paved the way for her to become one of the successful Entrepreneur. She has a strong vision to expand all her activities including aquaculture.
